Feast Your Eyes: Our Movie Themed Dinner Nights in Utah

Every month at Under Wraps, we pick a movie, build a multi-course menu around it, and serve each course while the film plays in the dining room. We call the series Feast Your Eyes, and the seats sell out almost every time.

It started in April 2023 as a simple Chef Night, and every seat sold. The next one sold out twice in a single evening, so we kept going. Twenty-some themed dinners later, our biggest night packed 33 people in for Ponyo, and most themes now run two or three nights because one stopped being enough.

If you have ever watched the roast chicken scene in a Ghibli film and wished you could taste it, this is that wish, plated.

How it works

You buy a ticket for a specific night. You show up, sit down, and the movie starts. As the story hits its food moments, our kitchen sends out courses inspired by what is happening on screen. Chef Skyler and the team design a new menu for every theme, so no two dinners are ever the same.

The dinners run multiple nights per theme, usually at 7:00 PM. Tickets are limited to keep the room comfortable, which is also why they go fast.

Movies we have cooked

A few of the themes we have done so far:

- Studio Ghibli nights: Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, and The Boy and the Heron

- The Lord of the Rings trilogy: Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and Return of the King (yes, there were multiple breakfasts)

- Ratatouille: the one where we take instructions from a rat

- Fantastic Mr. Fox, Coraline, Alice in Wonderland, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Beauty and the Beast, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Your Name, and a Star Wars night for The Phantom Menace

We also host Omakase Chef Nights, where the movie steps aside and the chef counter takes over. These are the hottest ticket we sell; the June 2025 omakase sold out every seat. And for the otaku crowd there are Anime Trivia Nights, which have sold out too.

What guests say

One recent guest wrote after our Fantastic Mr. Fox dinner: "The menu was fun and we enjoyed every course. The standouts for me were the pork belly, and the apple snap with brown butter ice cream." Another told us the best advice for a first visit is simple: don't forget to ask about movie night.
